R. Jason Hanks graduated from the University of Utah in 1999 with a B.S. in Business Management and a B.A. in Spanish. He graduated from law school with a J.D. from the University of Utah in 2002. Jason was selected to do a full time externship for the Utah Supreme Court where he provided legal research support and drafted opinions for then Chief Justice Christine M. Durham. Jason has also received specialized training in Alternative Dispute Resolution. Jason worked for the Utah Attorney General’s Office for 15 years where he developed expertise in child protection cases and felony criminal prosecution. Jason distinguished himself as the State of Utah’s top expert in criminal non-support cases. Due to his expertise, he trained other prosecutors statewide and was instrumental in drafting updates and revisions to state laws. Jason was an Advisory Board Member for Voyage Academy and participated in writing the school’s charter and polices and representing the school in obtaining approval from the Utah State Board of Education for funding. Jason has also represented state agencies such as the Division of Child and Family Services as well as the Office of Recovery services. Jason’s diverse and extensive legal experience prior to joining Cragun Law Firm firm gives him a wide range of insight and knowledge to help clients with all aspects of domestic relations litigation.
